How does the project work?

The project consists of two phases, both including a preparation seminar, the exchange of 20 cultural professionals and an evaluation seminar.

First round - 2010

  • preparation seminar (March 2010, Berlin)
  • exchanges (April - October 2010)
  • evaluation seminar (October 2010, Vienna)

Second round - 2011

  • preparation seminar (February 2011, Pécs)
  • exchanges (March - September 2011)
  • evaluation seminar (September 2011, Brussels)

The main element of the programme is the exchange itself. During the fixed exchange periods the participants will visit their selected cultural centre. There they will become familiar with the activities and projects of the hosting structure, they will perform job shadowing and they will get actively involved in the ongoing activities and/or special events taking place during their stay.

The exchange is preceded by a 2-day preparation seminar, which brings together the BECC participants and the ENCC coordination staff. The seminar allows for a presentation of the participants, an identification of matches for the exchange and an initial preparation of the exchanges. Practical information for hosting centres and visiting professionals is made available and both sides are encouraged to discuss, inquire and share.

The evaluation seminar is meant to capture the lessons learned during the actual exchanges. The participants give feedback on problems encountered and think about possible solutions, they present their own exchange experience and they work in small groups to identify the strong and the weak points of the programme with a view to improve it. The range of exchange experiences is later on  put together for the benefit of future participants.
