The pilot phase of the BECC, which took place in 2008-2009, gathered a total of 20 participants coming from 20 different cultural centres in 10 European countries.
The participating structures boasted a wide variety of thematic orientations, staff and impact sizes, each of them engaging in cultural activities of different type and intensity. However, all of them shared the sense that their work is or should go beyond the local dimension, as well as a common wish to reach out across geographical, political and mental borders.
The list below gives an overview of the participating centres.
